PETALING JAYA: After a week of searching, police have arrested four suspects believed to be involved in the robbery and attempted kidnapping of a woman in Taman Lagenda Putra, Johor Bahru, on May 5.

Kulai police chief Tan Seng Lee was reported by Harian Metro as saying that the four local men, aged between 21 and 40 years old, were arrested from 10.50am to 4.50pm on Monday.

“A team of Johor D9 contingent police personnel, together with personnel from the Kulai criminal investigation department, made three raids in separate locations around Johor Bahru and Kulim, Kedah.

“During the raids, police also seized a Honda Civic, a remote control device, four mobile phones and a tablet,” he said in a statement today.

Tan said the suspects admitted to planning the robbery, and that further investigations are underway to determine their involvement in other criminal cases within and outside the district.

“Checks found that all the suspects have records related to drug abuse.

“Urine screening found all the suspects positive for methamphetamine use,” he said.

Tan said the case is being investigated under Sections 365/511 and 323 of the Penal Code, which pertain to kidnapping and voluntarily causing hurt, and Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 for the consumption of dangerous drugs.

The suspects are being remanded for seven days from Tuesday until next Monday.
